Spending Quality Time

Upon focusing and spending more time reviewing race videos of past performances and form analysis we shall/must limit bets to one a day or none at all.

Everyone Can't be in your front row - Author: Unknown

Life is a theater so invite your audiences carefully. Not everyone is healthy enough to have a FRONT ROW seat in our lives.
There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance.

It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go, or at least minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going-anywhere relationships, friendships, fellowships and family!
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW.

Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention to: Which ones lift and which ones lean?
Which ones encourage and which ones discourage?
Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are just going downhill?

When you leave certain people, do you feel better or feel worse?
Which ones always have drama or don't really understand, know and appreciate you and the gift that lies within you?
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW.

The more you seek quality, the more you seek things honorable, the more you seek growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the FRONT ROW and who should be moved to the balcony of your life.
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW.

You cannot change the people around you...but you can change the people you are around!
Choose wisely the people who sit in the FRONT ROW of your life.

Remember that FRONT ROW seats are for special and deserving people and those who sit in your FRONT ROW should be chosen carefully.
Everyone Can't be in Your FRONT ROW

Remember that the people we hang with will have an impact on both our lives and our income. And so we must be careful to choose the people we hang out with, as well as the information with which we feed our minds.

We should not share our dreams with negative people, Nor feed our dreams with negative thoughts.
It's your choice and your life..... It's up to you who and what you let in it......

Bill Peterson

Bill Peterson was lucky enough to have family members involved in horse racing and who knew a lot about horses. But even with that advantage, it took a long time before he ever showed a profit from playing the ponies. It made him realizes what the average person is up against when he or she decides to try to make a profit from the races.

Even though he got some knowledge and advice from the people on the backstretch, it still would have been nice to have a good handicapper tell me what he needed to know, whether or not he was wise enough to listen. Anyone who plays the races for a while, whether for fun or for a living, learns that there are a lot of life lessons to be learned from gambling and horse betting.

Take each suggestion and do what you will with it. No two lives are exactly the same, so the things he had learned may not mean much in your life, but you never know, you just may learn a few things from these tips that will help make life a little smoother.

The first thing he learned about gambling and playing the horses is that it is a tough way to make money. It looks glamorous at first, but when you actually do it to make the money to pay the bills, it can be very tough.

The second big lesson and the advice he would give to any beginning horse player is, don't expect anyone else to make you a good horse player. You may learn from other people but the final result, how you put all the information together and apply it in your life, is totally up to you.

Third on the list of lessons is that while things may work out fine on paper, they seldom go as smoothly in real life. You may keep records and do data studies til' the cows come home and think you have perfected the perfect horse racing system, only to lose your shirt when you start playing it. Therefore, here is a real good tip. Until you are rock solid sure of yourself and what you are doing, bet light.

Fourth on the list of things he has learned is that racing and gambling are insidious and can gradually take over your life and lead to losing your objectivity. After a while they seem more important than other people and the rest of your life. Don't let that happen. Most of our lives, the meaningful parts, takes place away from the race track.

Fifth of the lessons I has learned is that nothing works all the time. We handicappers tend to fall into ruts and when we find something that makes us money, we think it will last forever. Nothing could be farther from the truth. You must have a bag of tricks so you can try different things until you find what is happening at a particular meet at a particular time. Knowing when to zig and when to zag is probably the handicappers greatest gift.

Sixth and finally, keep records and notes and read them often so you can keep track of how you are doing and what you can do to improve yourself and your performance.

These six racing tips may seem simple, but they would have saved him many trips home with empty pockets and a heavy heart.

Handicapping

We must realise that how much work goes into handicapping horses. It is definitely not simply a matter of looking at the card in the morning, studying the form, making a few selections, watching them at the parading ring, backing them and watching them run. We must keep updated records and data of the horses. It is hard work and lots of it.

Pari-Mutuel wagering

It is only making good bets and there is no best method, system, theory or strategy and there is no secret formula to handicapping or betting because every race and situation is different. It is a game of choice as well as decision making and as much as we are looking for a probable winner. Choices and decisions making apply to anything and everything we do and usually it is based on our own point of view.

In anything that we do, our mind plays a very important role. What we think can affect our feelings and as well as our betting on the correct horse too. It can either make us or break us.

The Turf Club makes its money no matter which horse wins and that is why it is called Pari-Mutuel wagering.

Thailand - Koh Samui attractions

Thailand - Koh Samui attractions Thailand

Many attractions have a distinctly local flavour, like the monkey show, and while others simply show off the beauty of the place. Monkey show, a must-see to Samui Island. Monkey Show, for centuries the local people have used monkeys to do the hard work of climbing the trees to pick coconuts. Samui has masses of plantations and until tourism, coconuts were the main industry here, so these industrious little animals are greatly prized. In the outdoor theatre, monkeys display their incredible dexterity, and not just at picking coconuts.

Monkey shows are just for amusing and entertaining the audiences. Some peddlers kept monkeys and put on the monkey shows to attract customers. This was especially popular in industries practicing selling medicines.

Captain Ping Pong: A compilation of Crème de la Crème Quotes by Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

19

One reason that so few people that can carry on a rational and agreeable conversation is because virtually everyone puts more attention on what they want to say than they do on listening to what others are saying and answering them [accordingly]. [Even] the most clever and polite people are content with only appearing to be attentive… [but in truth], they are wandering from what is said, and really want to return to what they want to say…
The worst way to persuade or please others is to try thus strongly to please ourselves; and some of the greatest charms we can have in conversation come from listening well and answering well. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

As it is the mark of great minds to say many things in a few words, so it is that of little minds to use many words to say nothing. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

The defects of the mind are like the wounds of the body: no matter how much care we take to heal them, the scars remain, and there is always the danger that they will reopen. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

In all aspects of life, we take on a part and an appearance to seem to be what we wish to be [seen as]—and thus the world is merely composed of actors. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Idiots and lunatics see only their own wit. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

However rare true love is, true friendship is rarer. -Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

We give advice, but we cannot give the wisdom to profit by it. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Most things are praised or condemned only because it is fashionable to praise or condemn them. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

One may outwit another, but not all the others. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

We can be more clever than one, but not more clever than all. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

What is commonly called friendship is no more than a partnership; a reciprocal regard for one another's interests, and an exchange of good offices; in a word, a mere traffic, wherein self-love always proposes to be a gainer. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

What seems generosity is often disguised ambition, that despises small to run after greater interests. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

We seldom find people ungrateful so long as we are in a condition to render them service. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

There are certain people fated to be fools; they not only commit follies by choice, but are even constrained to do so by fortune. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

If we had no faults, we should not take so much pleasure in noting those [faults] of others. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Pride is for the most part the same in everybody—the only difference is in the method and manner of showing it. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Self-interest speaks all sorts of tongues and plays all sorts of characters—even that of self-disinterest. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Self-interest blinds some people, and makes others see. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

The changes in our moods fluctuate even more than fortune [/ chance] does. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Truth does not do as much good in the world as the semblance of truth does evil. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Silence is the safest policy for he who distrusts himself. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

What makes us so changeable in our friendships is that it is difficult to know the qualities of the soul, but it is easy to know those of the mind. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

We can love nothing except what we base on our own selves, and when we prefer our friends to ourselves, we are just following our own taste or pleasure. Nevertheless, it is only by that preference that friendship can be true and perfect. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Those who know their minds do not necessarily know their hearts. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Men and things each have their proper perspective. To judge some of them rightly, it is necessary to see them at near, while to judge others rightly, we must see them at a distance. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

The head cannot play the part of the heart for long. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

It is as easy to unknowingly deceive yourself as [it is] to deceive others. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Nothing is less sincere than the act of asking and giving advice. Although the asker seems to pay attention to the opinion of his friend, in reality he is just plotting to make the friend approve his [the asker’s] own opinion and to make the friend responsible for his [the asker’s] conduct.
The person giving the advice returns the confidence placed in him with a disinterested eagerness… and he is usually guided only by his own interest or reputation. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

The most deceitful people blame deceit in order to use it on some great occasion to promote a certain great self-interest. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

There are different kinds of curiosity: one comes from self-interest, which makes us want to know everything that may be profitable to us; another from pride, which comes from a desire to know what others are ignorant of. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

There are both heroes of evil and heroes of good. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Lucky people are usually bad players when it comes to correcting their faults; they always believe that they are right when chance [/ fortune] backs up their vice or folly. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Some lies are disguised so well to resemble the truth, that we should be poor judges of truth if not to be deceived by them. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

It is more necessary to study men than books. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Few things are needed to make a wise man happy; nothing can make a fool content; that is why most men are miserable. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

However rare true love is, true friendship is rarer. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

It is easier for a well-trained mind to submit to an ill-trained mind than to guide it. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

We should often be ashamed of our very best actions if the world only saw the motives that caused them. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

Charity conman Rajendran jailed
By 938LIVE | Posted: 18 August 2009 1851 hrs

Rajendran Rajamani

SINGAPORE: The man who misappropriated more than S$110,000 of charity money, Rajendran Rajamani, has been sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in prison.

He will also be barred from serving as a company director for five years after his release.

The 26-year-old had earlier pleaded guilty to 26 of the 90 charges brought against him. The rest were taken into consideration during his sentencing.

Rajendran misappropriated the money over a span of less than two years.

He had set up three charities – Children of Singapore Foundation, Children Leukaemia Foundation and Club Sunshine – which were supposed to help cancer-stricken children.

But he ended up using the funds for himself, his friends and his girlfriend.

To cover his tracks, he falsified payment vouchers, invoices, financial aid payouts and the accounts of the foundations. He even named his parents as two of the directors without their knowledge and consent.

During the sentencing, the judge stressed that a strong deterrent message must be sent out.

Herbal tablet to blame for Noel Callow's Malaysian problem?

The inside story on Noel Callow's problem sample in Malaysia is that a herbal tablet he's been taking for 5 years and which passed drug tests all over the world may be at the heart of the matter. In the topsy-turvy world of Malaysian racing, some people think NC has been the victim of a setup. He apparently won on his first ride there, by 4.5 lengths, and the stable didn't have the money on. Not happy chappies. The popular Aussie jockey fears he may cop a ban of 3 to 6 months.

Noel Callow

By Andrew Eddy

At the centre of attention was a jockey in the red and lilac colours madly waving his arms, punching the sky, poking his tongue out and then star-jumping off the horse on returning to the mounting yard. He was Noel Callow, as brash and instinctive as always.

I first met Callow in 1989. A son of successful rider Kevin Callow from Adelaide, he was apprenticed to Eddie Laing at Epsom and one of his first assignments in his new and exciting role in Melbourne was to look after a filly I part-owned called Marine Beach.

My first impression of the then 15-year-old was that he was a rare individual. Within moments of being introduced, he was telling Laing, a veteran and successful horseman, exactly how to train horses.

He then turned on us and suggested how we should write our racing stories and then turned his attention to the bloke with the broom. He soon told him how to sweep.

Despite this slightly annoying over-confidence, he was somehow a likeable kid. Not that it mattered too much as kids like him do not last.

Masters expect their apprentices to be respectful, to listen and learn, to obey instructions and to stay out of trouble. Callow failed in all these categories.

A few months later, Laing sent him packing and over the next few years, Callow found himself in a variety of different stables. Added to his woes was that, as he matured, his weight began to soar. Stories continued to abound about how he had yet another punch-up with a fellow rider in the jockey's room. He was a hot-head who was never going to make it.

Sure enough, Callow gave up riding in the mid-1990s and, among other pursuits, began working in a bottle shop. Like so many before him, he had drifted out of the game. Few, if any, thought he would mature and could return to race riding, let alone become Australia's leading rider by winners, as is the case this season. But he did make it back. The ability was always there but, suddenly, so was the application and the dedication.

Noel Callow - The self-proclaimed King Callow

The self-proclaimed King Callow

Well, unlike three hours earlier, the body language was good and there were smiles all around. And Callow said to the trainer (Lee Freedman), "You can call me King Callow now."

"I will never forget the sight of Noel Callow flogging poor Benicio across the line to win the 2005 Victoria Derby. It was shocking; even the commentator mentioned it. This wasn't a quick flick on the shoulder; Callow brought it down with all his might in a particularly ugly ride. But I do not recall Callow receiving any reprimands, only trophies. Really, he should have been fined and suspended, and his win forfeited. As for the reprimands for jockeys who whip horses who are clearly beaten, or who have clearly won -- they should of course be more strictly and publicly enforced."

    The law of reciprocity

    The law of reciprocity

The law of reciprocity, which appears in every culture simply defines that when someone gives us something we feel obligated to give something back to them.

It can basically be summed up by stating the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.", "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine." and "You reap what you sow."

"Relationships between people or institutions are based on exchange in which all parties have a mutual understanding of their rights and obligations. Relations between members of an immediate family or between spouses are based on obligations such as obedience or respect. Relations can be forged through gifts or personal favors and bring with them obligations and expectations. For every action, something is expected in return.
Those who do favors are highly esteemed; they are recognized as people who have respect for those around them. Every previous or current situation produces expectations for future behavior on the part of the giver and gift recipient." CoachThee.com

"All meanings, we know, depend on the key of interpretation." George Eliot

"We should know what our convictions are, and stand for them. Upon one's own philosophy, conscious or unconscious, depends one's ultimate interpretation of facts. Therefore it is wise to be as clear as possible about one's subjective principles. As the man is, so will be his ultimate truth." Carl Jung

"No emotional crisis is wholly the product of outward circumstances. These may precipitate it. But what turns an objective situation into a subjectively critical one is the interpretation the individual puts upon it -- the meaning it has in his emotional economy; the way it affects his self-image." Bonaro Overstreet

"Language is a process of free creation; its laws and principles are fixed, but the manner in which the principles of generation are used is free and infinitely varied. Even the interpretation and use of words involves a process of free creation." Noam Chomsky

"All human knowledge takes the form of interpretation." Walter Benjamin

"Taste has no system and no proofs." Susan Sontag

    Monty Roberts and Jan Fennell

"Inspired by Monty Roberts, Jan Fennell embraces similar ideas to those found in The Man Who Listens to Horses. Rather than trying to fit human psychology to animals, the starting point is observing how animals communicate, how they structure their groups in the wild and what they think their role is."

"When we understand and respect a dog's mindset, effective training can be done with intelligence and compassion."

"She met the famed Monty Roberts, author of The Man Who Listens to Horses. Fennell's attitude to dogs and her life changed entirely on that afternoon in 1990. Enthused by what Monty could achieve with horses, she decided to try to apply his principles to canines."

Here is something for you to ponder:

The defects of the mind are like the wounds of the body: no matter how much care we take to heal them, the scars remain, and there is always the danger that they will reopen. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Beats Me (1)

The stay-at-home handicappers whilst watching the horses parading via simulcast, television screens or the JumboTron. Can they really recognize a ready horse in the paddock? How much facts can they gather whereby they are at the mercy of the cameraman?

    Note:
stay-at-home at Penang whereby the horses are being run at Kranji, Hong Kong and Australia = not at the actual venue and especially they are hundreds of miles away from the venue

    Plain And Simple (1)

    Needless To Say (42)

"If all pulled in one direction, the world would keel over." - Yiddish Proverb

    Wednesday, January 7, 2009

    Needless To Say (41)

That when you work for others you do things their way - or quit.

    Needless To Say (40)

That most jobs require playing politics, kissing arses, carrying golden balls or juggle golden balls or someone gets promoted ahead of you for any number of reasons that have nothing to do with merit.

But then again not all golden balls are easily carried or juggled.

    Needless To Say (39)

That as an unique individual you are entitled to an opinion and can express yourself which you deem fit.

    Needless To Say (38)

That discipline cannot be taught. Either you have it or don't.

    Needless To Say (37)

Like most stories they tell only part of the facts.

    Needless To Say (36)

That despite the kinetic, the gesture, body language, facial expression, motion and tone of voice, somehow or rather there are Homo sapiens still misinterpret us.

    Needless To Say (35)

We seldom find people ungrateful so long as we are in a condition to render them service. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (34)

What seems generosity is often disguised ambition, that despises small to run after greater interests. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (33)

What is commonly called friendship is no more than a partnership; a reciprocal regard for one another's interests, and an exchange of good offices; in a word, a mere traffic, wherein self-love always proposes to be a gainer. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (32)

We can be more clever than one, but not more clever than all. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (31)

Idiots and lunatics see only their own wit. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (30)

In all aspects of life, we take on a part and an appearance to seem to be what we wish to be [seen as]—and thus the world is merely composed of actors. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (29)

The defects of the mind are like the wounds of the body: no matter how much care we take to heal them, the scars remain, and there is always the danger that they will reopen. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (28)

As it is the mark of great minds to say many things in a few words, so it is that of little minds to use many words to say nothing. - Francois duc de La Rochefoucauld

    Needless To Say (27)

That One reason that so few people that can carry on a rational and agreeable conversation is because virtually everyone puts more attention on what they want to say than they do on listening to what others are saying and answering them [accordingly].

    Needless To Say (26)

That most human beings have an extremely high opinion of themselves and also a driving need to be in the center of attention. They think their own thoughts are the best. They will live in constant reference to self, the choices made by a person will stem from self, the desires and values from the self.

    Needless To Say (25)

That there are no short-cuts and that some strangers are willing to show us. The average men will fall prey to these strangers who boast of their connections, influences and their special position that permit them to do things that are not privileged for the average men.

The bottom line is there are no Holy Grails and none whatsoever.

    Needless To Say (24)

That this is a pari-mutuel and a negative or a zero sum game, we can have bumper harvest as well as a drought season and it is like we are riding on a roller coaster.

    Needless To Say (23)

That if we are lucky and fortunate enough and brought up in a way that empowers us, then we would have a better head start.

    Needless To Say (22)

That what we say and what others hear may not always be the same.

    Needless To Say (21)

That everybody seems to have a different
    definition, interpretation, opinion and views.

    Needless To Say (20)

That there are people we can reason with and there are people we disagree with. And then there are the ones we don't even want to waste our time on and bother with because if we argue with these people, people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

    Needless To Say (19)

Knowledge, knowing and firsthand information is the key and anything else is speculative guessing, hearsay, groundless talk, gossip, rumour, unsubstantiated information and marketing stunts.

    Monday, January 5, 2009

    Needless To Say (18)

That all unique individuals have their own opinion, temperament, personalities, thoughts, decisions and belief systems that work best for them and it is of equal value with intelligent, compassionate, skilled and gifted but function differently.

Everyone who walks on this earth is unique and this is what makes human society interesting.

    Needless To Say (16)

That the basic problems and scenarios that human beings encounter don't differ much from one person to another or from one generation to another. The same problems and scenarios have been encountered by dozens, hundreds or maybe millions before us.

And most of that problems and scenarios are like deadly diseases which are contagious and infectious and it is incurable and it will continue for eon.

    Needless To Say (15)

That you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time and not unless they are clinical brain-dead.

But you can make a fool of yourself anytime.

    Needless To Say (14)

That no matter how good a system is there are always the human factors. Not just with the selections but with the self doubt.

    Needless To Say (13)

That unless you are putting money on it, nothing is at stake. Go ahead and brag, boast and your hidden agenda. Who cares! By the same token you can take a long walk off a short pier.

    Needless To Say (12)

That it is only making good choice and good bets and there is no best method, system, theory or strategy and there is no secret formula to handicapping or betting because every race and situation is different. It is a game of choice as well as decision making and as much as we are looking for a probable winner.

    Needless To Say (11)

That there is no way to measure or quantify prediction and no way to develop the knowledge to make predictions correspond to reality. There are many predictions but no similarly apparent result.

    Needless To Say (10)

That everyone has a scheme for getting rich that will not work.

    Needless To Say (9)

That anything good in life and all the desirable things in life are either illegal, immoral, expensive or fattening.

    Needless To Say (8)

That if you argue with a fool, people might not know the difference.

    Needless To Say (7)

That If you fool around with a thing for very long you will screw it up.

    Needless To Say (6)

That not everyone is clinical brain-dead. Are you?

    Needless To Say (5)

That there is no set answer to anything of course, it varies from person to person, from relationship to relationship and from races (horses) to races.

    Needless To Say (4)

Equipped with a mind humans will live in constant reference to the self, the choices made by a person will stem from the self, the desires and the values also from the self.

And they would always deem that their own thoughts are the best.

    Needless To Say (3)

That most of humans problems persist is on account of somebody, somewhere, profiting from their continuation.

    Needless To Say (2)

That choices and decisions making apply to anything and everything we do and usually it is based on our own point of view. We make choices and decisions for different reasons and at different times. Whatever choices and decisions we make it is at our peril. No one can tell us beyond reasonable doubt that it is a mistake.

    Needless To Say (1)

When someone is trying to communicate with us and if they are not on the same wavelength with us, the chances of coming together to form some meaningful understanding will be very slim.
